Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.29%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.29%, while the MDAX index declined 0.63%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.34%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 4.92% or 5.75 points to trade at 122.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) added 4.70% or 3.405 points to end at 75.800 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 4.46% or 7.89 points to 184.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 3.78% or 4.00 points to trade at 101.95 at the close. E.ON SE (DE:EONGn) declined 2.42% or 0.206 points to end at 8.294 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was down 2.21% or 2.99 points to 132.48.

The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 5.06% to 115.20, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was up 3.85% to settle at 11.860 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which gained 3.70% to close at 30.305.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 3.60% to 60.25 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 3.56% to settle at 411.600 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 2.88% to 97.290 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which rose 3.05% to 27.000, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 56.300 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 2.29% to close at 18.980.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 6.49% to 20.460 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 3.56% to settle at 411.600 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 2.82% to 40.775 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 351 to 347 and 57 ended unchanged.

Shares in Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.46% or 7.89 to 184.79. Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.85% or 0.440 to 11.860.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.57% to 22.72.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.00% or 17.35 to $1716.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.50% or 2.09 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.01% or 1.89 to trade at $64.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2073, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8645.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 90.903.
