France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.35%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.35% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 5.21% or 1.95 points to trade at 39.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) added 3.95% or 1.76 points to end at 46.27 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 3.62% or 0.75 points to 21.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 2.41% or 0.28 points to trade at 11.54 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 1.72% or 1.28 points to end at 73.24 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was down 1.64% or 0.37 points to 22.23.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which rose 7.17% to 7.55, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 5.89% to settle at 44.44 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which gained 5.21% to close at 39.37.

The worst performers were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 7.24% to 26.90 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which lost 4.53% to settle at 345.60 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) which was down 4.18% to 66.45 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 323 to 276 and 70 ended unchanged.

Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.95% or 1.76 to 46.27.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.03% or 17.80 to $1715.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.60% or 2.15 to hit $61.90 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.03% or 1.90 to trade at $64.60 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.2069, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8640.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 90.915.
