Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 0.94%, while the index lost 0.95%, and the index lost 0.30%.

The best performers of the session on the were Wirecard AG (DE:), which rose 4.22% or 5.450 points to trade at 134.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:) added 1.48% or 0.112 points to end at 7.684 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:) was up 0.82% or 0.175 points to 21.525 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (DE:), which fell 3.44% or 3.80 points to trade at 106.62 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:) declined 2.57% or 0.870 points to end at 33.000 and SAP SE (DE:) was down 2.18% or 2.760 points to 123.840.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (DE:) which rose 2.84% to 70.500, Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:) which was up 2.54% to settle at 99.39 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:) which gained 1.26% to close at 120.400.

The worst performers were Hochtief AG (DE:) which was down 8.04% to 108.60 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) which lost 4.97% to settle at 65.000 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 4.06% to 61.500 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:) which rose 4.22% to 134.600, S&T AG (DE:) which was up 2.28% to settle at 25.16 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:) which gained 1.26% to close at 120.400.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 4.97% to 65.000 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:) which lost 4.06% to settle at 61.500 and New Work SE (DE:) which was down 3.28% to 295.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 463 to 219 and 69 ended unchanged.

Shares in S&T AG (DE:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.28% or 0.56 to 25.16.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.07% to 14.08.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 9.55 to $1566.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 3.30% or 1.87 to hit $54.87 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.93% or 1.85 to trade at $61.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1051, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8433.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 97.510.
