France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.81%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.81%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 1.42% or 0.47 points to trade at 33.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 0.77% or 0.61 points to end at 79.40 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was up 0.77% or 0.20 points to 26.21 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 3.70% or 2.88 points to trade at 74.98 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 3.15% or 4.00 points to end at 123.00 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was down 3.13% or 2.68 points to 82.98.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which rose 1.85% to 30.84, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was up 1.69% to settle at 12.63 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) which gained 1.57% to close at 90.30.

The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 7.64% to 16.33 in late trade, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which lost 4.96% to settle at 0.947 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.72% to 29.175 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 369 to 225 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.85% or 0.56 to 30.84.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.69% or 12.75 to $1848.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.40 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.2150, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.9010.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 90.573.
