France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.16%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.16% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 2.10% or 0.53 points to trade at 25.76 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 2.05% or 1.39 points to end at 69.09 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) was up 1.70% or 0.27 points to 15.88 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM), which fell 3.23% or 0.82 points to trade at 24.39 at the close. Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) declined 2.03% or 0.83 points to end at 40.12 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was down 1.31% or 0.52 points to 39.25.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 4.18% to 1.78, Neoen SA (EPA:NEOEN) which was up 3.39% to settle at 29.86 and Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which gained 2.81% to close at 8.04.

The worst performers were Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which was down 6.95% to 136.60 in late trade, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which lost 5.54% to settle at 2.80 and CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 5.28% to 0.44 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 273 to 247 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) rose to all time highs; rising 2.05% or 1.39 to 69.09.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.45% or 34.45 to $2,407.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.58% or 1.34 to hit $86.36 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.40% or 1.26 to trade at $91.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 105.74.
