France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.91%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.91%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.70%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 5.74% or 39.90 points to trade at 735.20 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 5.68% or 2.38 points to end at 44.40 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 5.29% or 1.33 points to 26.36 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which fell 0.49% or 0.07 points to trade at 15.13 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 0.43% or 0.23 points to end at 52.86 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 0.09% or 0.01 points to 9.28.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which rose 8.77% to 7.20, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 7.63% to settle at 23.12 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which gained 6.45% to close at 75.10.

The worst performers were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 3.01% to 36.43 in late trade, Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which lost 1.81% to settle at 71.62 and Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 1.73% to 5.97 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 436 to 173 and 83 ended unchanged.

Shares in Atos SE (PA:ATOS) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.01% or 1.13 to 36.43.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.26% or 4.60 to $1784.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.46% or 3.10 to hit $72.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.90% or 2.85 to trade at $75.93 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8501.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.480.
