France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.87%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.79%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 3.98% or 4.50 points to trade at 117.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) added 3.70% or 1.61 points to end at 45.11 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) was up 3.22% or 1.15 points to 36.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 3.37% or 1.05 points to trade at 30.15 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) declined 2.35% or 0.38 points to end at 15.59 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was down 1.30% or 0.31 points to 23.14.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which rose 6.34% to 10.15, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was up 3.98% to settle at 117.65 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which gained 3.70% to close at 45.11.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 7.78% to 2.91 in late trade, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which lost 5.00% to settle at 6.38 and Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) which was down 4.20% to 23.29 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 303 to 240 and 88 ended unchanged.

Shares in Valneva (EPA:VLS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.00% or 0.34 to 6.38.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 2.25 to $1,673.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.30% or 0.25 to hit $83.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.15 to trade at $90.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.00% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.79% at 110.81.
