Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.52%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC), which rose 12.77% or 6.77 points to trade at 59.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:ILU) added 9.84% or 0.93 points to end at 10.38 and Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) was up 8.70% or 0.28 points to 3.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML), which fell 10.55% or 0.11 points to trade at 0.89 at the close. Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) declined 5.56% or 0.26 points to end at 4.42 and Adbri Ltd (ASX:ABC) was down 4.76% or 0.11 points to 2.20.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 761 to 577 and 413 ended unchanged.

Shares in EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.55% or 0.11 to 0.89. Shares in Adbri Ltd (ASX:ABC) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.76% or 0.11 to 2.20.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.36% to 13.96.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.95 to $1,758.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.62 to hit $94.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.59 to trade at $100.81 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY fell 0.30% to 94.51.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 108.59.
