Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.10%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.10%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were AP Eagers Ltd (ASX:APE), which rose 9.87% or 0.68 points to trade at 7.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Netwealth Group Ltd (ASX:NWL) added 9.06% or 0.75 points to end at 9.03 and Avita Medical (ASX:AVH) was up 8.33% or 0.035 points to 0.455 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Scentre Group Ltd (ASX:SCG), which fell 4.74% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.21 at the close. Vicinity Centres Re Ltd (ASX:VCX) declined 4.72% or 0.075 points to end at 1.515 and A2 Milk Company Ltd (ASX:A2M) was down 4.23% or 0.82 points to 18.57.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 732 to 465 and 370 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.08% to 24.258.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.62% or 10.75 to $1741.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.62% or 0.63 to hit $39.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 0.62 to trade at $42.13 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.28% to 0.6870, while AUD/JPY rose 0.25% to 73.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 97.312.
