At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.33%, while the S&P 500 index added 0.18%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 4.18% or 1.47 points to trade at 36.61 at the close. Meanwhile, Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) added 2.05% or 3.31 points to end at 164.41 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) was up 1.80% or 5.07 points to 286.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which fell 7.43% or 1.88 points to trade at 23.43 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) declined 2.44% or 2.04 points to end at 81.64 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) was down 0.89% or 0.54 points to 59.30.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (NYSE:HPE) which rose 5.83% to 17.98, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which was up 4.18% to settle at 36.61 and Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:STX) which gained 4.11% to close at 73.70.
The worst performers were Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:WBD) which was down 12.02% to 11.56 in late trade, Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:PARA) which lost 9.54% to settle at 13.65 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) which was down 7.43% to 23.43 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Tradeup Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:UPTD) which rose 201.37% to 22.00, Axcella Health Inc (NASDAQ:AXLA) which was up 81.82% to settle at 0.42 and Edible Garden AG Inc (NASDAQ:EDBL) which gained 54.26% to close at 1.99.
The worst performers were Biodexa Pharmaceuticals PLC DRC (NASDAQ:BDRX) which was down 27.41% to 5.80 in late trade, iCoreConnect Inc (NASDAQ:ICCT) which lost 26.92% to settle at 8.74 and Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX) which was down 24.80% to 41.36 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1909 to 984 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2191 rose and 1276 declined, while 113 ended unchanged.
Shares in Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:PARA) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.54% or 1.44 to 13.65. Shares in Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:STX) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.11% or 2.91 to 73.70. Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.43% or 1.88 to 23.43. Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.43% or 1.88 to 23.43. Shares in Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.44% or 2.04 to 81.64. Shares in Tradeup Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:UPTD) rose to all time highs; up 201.37% or 14.70 to 22.00.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.54% to 13.09 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.95 to $1,966.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.68% or 2.24 to hit $85.87 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.92 to trade at $88.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.44% to 146.16.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 104.20.
