At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.58%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.12%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which rose 1.64% or 0.63 points to trade at 39.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) added 0.96% or 1.11 points to end at 116.28 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) was up 0.64% or 0.86 points to 135.56 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM), which fell 5.74% or 14.96 points to trade at 245.88 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) declined 3.12% or 2.98 points to end at 92.64 and Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW) was down 2.23% or 1.29 points to 56.44.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Nordstrom Inc (NYSE:JWN) which rose 13.36% to 27.83, Autodesk Inc (NASDAQ:ADSK) which was up 5.90% to settle at 274.26 and PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) which gained 4.05% to close at 214.35.
The worst performers were Gap Inc (NYSE:GPS) which was down 19.39% to 21.66 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (NYSE:FTI) which lost 6.98% to settle at 8.99 and Coty Inc (NYSE:COTY) which was down 6.56% to 7.05 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Anpac Bio Medical Science Co Ltd (NASDAQ:ANPC) which rose 105.14% to 7.18, MMTEC Inc (NASDAQ:MTC) which was up 78.33% to settle at 2.140 and Newborn Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:NBAC) which gained 66.47% to close at 19.91.
The worst performers were Hepion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:HEPA) which was down 26.15% to 1.61 in late trade, Ecmoho Ltd (NASDAQ:MOHO) which lost 21.67% to settle at 2.82 and Corsair Gaming Inc (NASDAQ:CRSR) which was down 18.65% to 41.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1654 to 1253 and 91 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1407 rose and 1400 declined, while 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Autodesk Inc (NASDAQ:ADSK) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.90% or 15.29 to 274.26. Shares in PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) rose to all time highs; rising 4.05% or 8.35 to 214.35. Shares in Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.64% or 0.86 to 135.56. Shares in Newborn Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:NBAC) rose to all time highs; up 66.47% or 7.95 to 19.91.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.57% to 21.30 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 2.40 to $1807.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.60% or 0.72 to hit $45.63 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 0.74 to trade at $48.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1923, while USD/JPY fell 0.02% to 104.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 91.933.
