At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.06% to hit a new 1-month low, while the S&P 500 index declined 2.00%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 2.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT), which rose 0.59% or 0.87 points to trade at 147.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) fell 0.01% or 0.01 points to end at 140.00 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) was down 0.28% or 0.52 points to 185.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), which fell 7.09% or 22.55 points to trade at 295.40 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) declined 5.61% or 1.55 points to end at 26.06 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) was down 3.31% or 3.74 points to 109.25.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were General Mills Inc (NYSE:GIS) which rose 4.42% to 80.16, Organon & Co (NYSE:OGN) which was up 3.94% to settle at 27.05 and Molson Coors Brewing Co Class B (NYSE:TAP) which gained 3.11% to close at 53.64.
The worst performers were Generac Holdings Inc (NYSE:GNRC) which was down 8.72% to 115.72 in late trade, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) which lost 8.62% to settle at 12.93 and Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) which was down 7.09% to 295.40 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Atlas Lithium Corp (NASDAQ:ATLX) which rose 51.52% to 10.94, Meihua International Medical Technologies Co Ltd (NASDAQ:MHUA) which was up 49.94% to settle at 39.00 and Arbe Robotics Ltd (NASDAQ:ARBE) which gained 47.13% to close at 6.40.
The worst performers were CVRx Inc (NASDAQ:CVRX) which was down 58.84% to 7.08 in late trade, Aileron Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ALRN) which lost 38.66% to settle at 1.46 and TC BioPharm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ:TCBP) which was down 32.62% to 5.02 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2688 to 380 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 3035 fell and 694 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.62% or 1.22 to 12.93. Shares in Meihua International Medical Technologies Co Ltd (NASDAQ:MHUA) rose to all time highs; gaining 49.94% or 12.99 to 39.00. Shares in Aileron Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ALRN) fell to all time lows; falling 38.66% or 0.92 to 1.46.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 7.72% to 22.87 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.34% or 6.35 to $1,843.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.54% or 0.41 to hit $76.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 1.26 to trade at $82.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.06, while USD/JPY rose 0.56% to 134.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 104.14.
