At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.29% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.88%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 7.53% or 14.08 points to trade at 201.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) added 6.96% or 5.78 points to end at 88.81 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) was up 4.45% or 6.16 points to 144.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG), which fell 1.90% or 2.74 points to trade at 141.54 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) declined 1.50% or 1.22 points to end at 79.87 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) was down 0.42% or 0.99 points to 236.37.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Nordstrom Inc (NYSE:JWN) which rose 12.65% to 19.50, TechnipFMC PLC (NYSE:FTI) which was up 10.94% to settle at 8.11 and Schlumberger NV (NYSE:SLB) which gained 10.47% to close at 19.89.
The worst performers were Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:ILMN) which was down 3.76% to 297.25 in late trade, Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE) which lost 3.65% to settle at 37.21 and FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE) which was down 3.49% to 28.48 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Alterity Therapeutics Ltd (NASDAQ:ATHE) which rose 150.43% to 2.8800, CBAK Energy Technology Inc (NASDAQ:CBAT) which was up 52.36% to settle at 9.3700 and Westwater Resources Inc (NASDAQ:WWR) which gained 47.38% to close at 6.190.
The worst performers were Hall of Fame Resort Entertainment Co (NASDAQ:HOFV) which was down 53.61% to 1.16 in late trade, RAPT Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:RAPT) which lost 44.24% to settle at 16.99 and Gulfport Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:GPOR) which was down 43.72% to 0.135 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2388 to 565 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1950 rose and 859 declined, while 70 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hall of Fame Resort Entertainment Co (NASDAQ:HOFV) fell to all time lows; falling 53.61% or 1.33 to 1.16. Shares in CBAK Energy Technology Inc (NASDAQ:CBAT) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 52.36% or 3.2200 to 9.3700. Shares in Gulfport Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:GPOR) fell to all time lows; falling 43.72% or 0.104 to 0.135.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.13% to 23.07 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 1.30 to $1884.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.14% or 1.26 to hit $41.39 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.57% or 1.10 to trade at $43.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1845, while USD/JPY fell 0.03% to 104.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 92.627.
