Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce his presidential bid during a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, a spokesperson for DeSantis’ political team confirmed.

NBC News first reported the pending announcement. Musk and DeSantis, a Republican, will host an event on Twitter Spaces, the site’s platform for audio chats, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. The event will be moderated by David Sacks — a tech entrepreneur, Musk confidant and DeSantis supporter — according to NBC.

Musk, speaking to the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit in London, said the Florida governor will have “quite an announcement” on Twitter on Wednesday, adding the event will not be scripted.

“Let’s see what happens,” Musk said, adding that he wasn’t planning to endorse any particular candidates.

Musk said it was important for Twitter, which he bought in October for $44 billion, to be “a level playing field, and a place where all voices are heard.” The CEO said that, like most Americans, he’d like to see “someone fairly normal” as the future president, to laughs from the audience, but shied away from naming any names when asked.

Nearly a year ago, Musk said he supported former long-shot Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang in the last presidential election, but added, “DeSantis has a better chance of winning.”

Musk is also the chief executive of Tesla

Wednesday evening, DeSantis’ campaign will release a launch video, and DeSantis will begin visiting several early states after Memorial Day, the NBC report said.
