Musk Denies Rumors He's Interested in Buying OANN

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO, Elon Musk, was quick to deny rumors he was interested in buying another media property – conservative news network One America News Network (OANN).

The rumors came from OANN’s own CEO Robert Herring, who tweeted this afternoon, “We just received a call from somebody very close to @elonmusk telling us that he would like to talk to us about purchasing @OANN.”

Elon Musk shot back an hour later tweeting “only Twitter,” suggesting he is only interested in buying Twitter (NYSE:TWTR).

In April, Musk agreed to acquire Twitter for $44 billion, or $54.20 per share, in a deal that is still pending. Despite having financing in place, Wall Street doesn’t see the deal happening given values of similar companies have collapsed and Musk has questioned the company on the bot activity on the site.

Tesla shareholders will be relieved that Musk is not going after another media company. However, it is still unclear why Herring tweeted the Musk rumor in the first place. Perhaps he is trying to sell the network and wants to create the appearance of more interest.
