That’s Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s tweeted response to a story about how Uber’s Greenlight Hub office in Providence, R.I., has separate bathrooms for “partners” and “employees.”
This concept has long been an issue for Uber UBER, -0.95% , which does not call drivers its employees, using “partners” instead.
Erika Betts, an Uber driver, flagged the situation in this tweet:
Betts told Vice “the bathroom division is obscure and uncalled for,” and “the company’s driver support system is laughable at best.”
An Uber spokesperson responded, “This was a mistake and we regret it. We are removing the signs and have made it clear that this was not appropriate.”
Ocasio-Cortez has been critical of Uber in the past. Earlier this year, she urged followers to boycott the service. “It’s a small but big way you can help all the drivers you’ve met get paid more to feed their families + support themselves,” she tweeted.
