Fans who came to Spartan Stadium in East Lansing on Oct. 30 got to watch Michigan State beat Michigan, 37-33. Most fans had a great time seeing the home team come back in the fourth quarter. But one attendee just had to apologize for having a little too much fun.
The apology comes from Dana Nessel, Michigan’s Democratic attorney general, drank too much before the intra-state rivalry matchup and apologized for the “tailgate-gate” on Facebook.
According to Nessel’s description, she started to “feel ill,” then was taken out of the stadium in a wheelchair, and was driven home, where she slept it off.
Nessel was facing some scrutiny for her actions — and her admission — from conservatives in the state.
The state’s Republican Party went a step further, calling her public intoxication “something that is punishable by law.”
But, for the most part, the reaction to the experience many college kids themselves went through was one of empathy — if not outright support.
