Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 1.32%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 1.32%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (TYO:4043), which rose 2.74% or 48.00 points to trade at 1,802.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:5233) added 2.72% or 55.00 points to end at 2,079.00 and Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366) was up 2.38% or 11.00 points to 473.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568), which fell 7.02% or 232.00 points to trade at 3,073.00 at the close. Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (TYO:4021) declined 5.80% or 420.00 points to end at 6,820.00 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) was down 3.82% or 207.00 points to 5,217.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2545 to 988 and 229 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 21.25% to 25.79.

Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.84% or 1.02 to $121.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.90% or 1.10 to hit $123.37 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1,831.80 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.07% to 134.30, while EUR/JPY rose 0.51% to 140.56.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 104.61.
