Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.43%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.43%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (TYO:8303), which rose 2.21% or 52.00 points to trade at 2,400.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd (TYO:5101) added 1.40% or 30.00 points to end at 2,176.00 and Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755) was up 1.36% or 9.00 points to 670.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751), which fell 7.59% or 102.00 points to trade at 1,241.00 at the close. JFE Holdings, Inc. (TYO:5411) declined 3.10% or 48.00 points to end at 1,500.00 and Kobe Steel, Ltd. (TYO:5406) was down 3.01% or 19.00 points to 612.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2158 to 1416 and 260 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.11% to 17.49.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.83% or 2.16 to $74.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 2.75% or 2.30 to hit $81.41 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 3.90 to trade at $1,750.10 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.76% to 138.04, while EUR/JPY fell 0.98% to 143.18.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 106.11.
