Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 2.96%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.96%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Itochu Corp. (TYO:8001), which rose 8.34% or 297.00 points to trade at 3,859.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202) added 7.79% or 42.00 points to end at 581.00 and Marubeni Corp. (TYO:8002) was up 7.05% or 90.50 points to 1,374.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107), which fell 0.99% or 21.00 points to trade at 2,109.00 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523) added 0.04% or 3.00 points to end at 7,464.00 and Shizuoka Financial Group Inc (TYO:5831) was up 0.34% or 3.00 points to 877.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3264 to 380 and 133 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.42% to 26.22.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.35% or 0.29 to $83.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.47% or 0.42 to hit $89.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.93% or 15.75 to trade at $1,717.75 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 144.60, while EUR/JPY rose 0.65% to 142.91.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 110.99.
