Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 2.67%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 2.67% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324), which rose 6.15% or 260.00 points to trade at 4,490.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) added 5.11% or 905.00 points to end at 18,610.00 and Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) was up 4.91% or 114.00 points to 2,436.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IHI Corp. (TYO:7013), which fell 1.23% or 45.00 points to trade at 3,625.00 at the close. Hitachi Zosen Corp. (TYO:7004) declined 0.60% or 5.00 points to end at 824.00 and Haseko Corp (TYO:1808) was down 0.31% or 5.00 points to 1,605.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2946 to 641 and 216 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.42% to 21.76.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.92% or 1.93 to $98.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.60% or 1.72 to hit $105.63 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 5.30 to trade at $1,705.40 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 138.07, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 141.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 106.33.
