Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 1.75%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.75%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803), which rose 15.86% or 85.00 points to trade at 621.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Denso Corp. (TYO:6902) added 9.72% or 705.00 points to end at 7,957.00 and Tokuyama Corp. (TYO:4043) was up 7.44% or 120.00 points to 1,733.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902), which fell 6.20% or 30.00 points to trade at 454.00 at the close. Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (TYO:6305) declined 4.83% or 150.00 points to end at 2,955.00 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) was down 4.77% or 160.00 points to 3,195.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2505 to 1050 and 208 ended unchanged.

Shares in Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.20% or 30.00 to 454.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.88% to 26.61.

Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.26% or 0.27 to $101.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.35% or 0.37 to hit $104.58 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 3.13 to trade at $1,885.57 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 1.48% to 130.32, while EUR/JPY rose 1.32% to 137.34.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.25.
