Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 1.42%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.42%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098), which rose 5.05% or 215.00 points to trade at 4,472.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamaha Corp. (TYO:7951) added 4.67% or 250.00 points to end at 5,600.00 and Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) was up 4.38% or 280.00 points to 6,670.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531), which fell 0.98% or 25.00 points to trade at 2,524.00 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366) declined 0.82% or 3.00 points to end at 361.00 and Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:2269) was down 0.79% or 50.00 points to 6,270.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2824 to 718 and 235 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.21% to 25.02.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.82% or 0.69 to $85.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.73% or 0.67 to hit $92.29 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.34% or 5.70 to trade at $1,658.30 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 149.01, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 146.77.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 111.91.
