Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.62%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DIC Corp (T:4631), which rose 8.55% or 204.0 points to trade at 2589.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mazda Motor Corp (T:7261) added 5.65% or 33.0 points to end at 617.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) was up 5.18% or 69.0 points to 1402.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002), which fell 10.97% or 192.0 points to trade at 1558.0 at the close. Mitsubishi Estate Co Ltd (T:8802) declined 8.75% or 151.5 points to end at 1580.0 and Maruha Nichiro Corp (T:1333) was down 5.81% or 134.0 points to 2171.0.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2174 to 1443 and 138 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 29.15.

Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.37% or 0.93 to $28.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.95% or 1.23 to hit $32.36 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.27% or 4.75 to trade at $1745.65 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.10% to 107.13, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 115.82.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 100.280.
