Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.58%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.58%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631), which rose 6.14% or 185.00 points to trade at 3,200.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) added 5.08% or 12.00 points to end at 248.00 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) was up 4.60% or 183.00 points to 4,163.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TYO:5707), which fell 2.77% or 70.00 points to trade at 2,459.00 at the close. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) declined 2.56% or 68.00 points to end at 2,587.00 and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7912) was down 2.45% or 73.00 points to 2,911.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2342 to 1132 and 327 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.45% to 19.97.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.36% or 0.34 to $95.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.55% or 0.56 to hit $101.78 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.83% or 14.55 to trade at $1,776.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.42% to 136.54, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 136.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 108.13.
