Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.56%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.56%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801), which rose 4.63% or 190.00 points to trade at 4,290.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) added 4.15% or 56.00 points to end at 1,405.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was up 4.13% or 79.00 points to 1,993.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:2801), which fell 1.33% or 90.00 points to trade at 6,690.00 at the close. Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TYO:6952) declined 1.20% or 16.00 points to end at 1,319.00 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) was down 0.87% or 160.00 points to 18,310.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2501 to 1019 and 296 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.41% to 17.54 a new 1-month low.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.52% or 0.42 to $81.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.39 to hit $86.55 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 7.30 to trade at $1,931.20 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 128.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.45% to 139.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.87.
