Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.54%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.54%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 6.92% or 350.0 points to trade at 5410.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Yusen K.K (T:9101) added 5.16% or 380.0 points to end at 7750.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was up 4.41% or 81.5 points to 1931.5 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Inpex Corp. (T:1605), which fell 8.30% or 81.0 points to trade at 895.0 at the close. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) declined 6.08% or 169.0 points to end at 2610.5 and Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019) was down 5.89% or 190.0 points to 3035.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1822 to 1677 and 224 ended unchanged.

Shares in Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.08% or 169.0 to 2610.5.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.72 a new 3-months high.

Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.70% or 1.32 to $76.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.01% or 0.82 to hit $80.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 4.95 to trade at $1766.75 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.10% to 111.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 128.72.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.142.
