Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.26%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (TYO:2802), which rose 9.31% or 374.00 points to trade at 4,392.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) added 5.40% or 105.00 points to end at 2,050.00 and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (TYO:6305) was up 4.43% or 135.00 points to 3,180.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TYO:6952), which fell 2.70% or 36.00 points to trade at 1,299.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) declined 2.32% or 27.00 points to end at 1,139.00 and Kyowa Kirin Co Ltd (TYO:4151) was down 2.26% or 66.00 points to 2,849.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2051 to 1510 and 264 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.20% to 16.59.

Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.73% or 0.56 to $77.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.72% or 0.60 to hit $84.05 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 2.55 to trade at $1,839.25 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.13% to 136.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.50% to 144.76.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 104.66.
