Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.26%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.26% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (T:7272), which rose 21.40% or 334.0 points to trade at 1895.0 at the close. Meanwhile, ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) added 18.06% or 407.0 points to end at 2660.0 and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:3086) was up 15.59% or 125.0 points to 927.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were CyberAgent Inc (T:4751), which fell 8.35% or 550.0 points to trade at 6040.0 at the close. Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) declined 7.74% or 208.0 points to end at 2480.0 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was down 7.58% or 50.3 points to 613.2.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1926 to 1653 and 147 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.40.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.15% or 0.06 to $40.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.21% or 0.09 to hit $42.49 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.61% or 29.90 to trade at $1884.30 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.27% to 105.08, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to 124.27.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 92.718.
