Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 1.91%, while the index declined 1.90%.

The best performers of the session on the were Titan Company Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.52% or 17.30 points to trade at 1158.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:) added 0.34% or 0.85 points to end at 252.15 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) was down 0.21% or 0.40 points to 193.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.52% or 189.45 points to trade at 3996.70 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NS:) declined 4.47% or 7.05 points to end at 150.55 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) was down 4.46% or 12.20 points to 261.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 0.10% to 193.15, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.02% to settle at 2200.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.26% to close at 1653.50.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 4.63% to 3998.20 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which lost 4.47% to settle at 150.65 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 4.43% to 318.95 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1311 to 250 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1856 fell and 575 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 16.40% to 14.7775 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.70% or 26.35 to $1578.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.02% or 0.64 to hit $63.69 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.87 to trade at $69.47 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.31% to 71.980, while EUR/INR rose 0.58% to 80.5820.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 96.287.
