India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.94%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.94%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 3.85% or 92.75 points to trade at 2,500.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 1.06% or 13.10 points to end at 1,246.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 0.62% or 19.35 points to 3,145.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 7.27% or 526.45 points to trade at 6,714.10 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 3.94% or 607.95 points to end at 14,826.40 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was down 2.85% or 23.45 points to 798.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 1.05% to 1,246.50, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 0.72% to settle at 3,148.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 0.47% to close at 3,561.30.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 7.24% to 6,716.65 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 3.88% to settle at 14,828.55 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.21% to 737.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1298 to 535 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2118 fell and 1131 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.39% to 20.60.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.34% or 6.50 to $1,897.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.27% or 0.27 to hit $101.97 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.51 to trade at $105.12 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.31% to 76.55, while EUR/INR fell 0.34% to 81.25.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 102.60.
