India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.36%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.36% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.60%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 8.93% or 345.00 points to trade at 4210.00 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 7.29% or 56.55 points to end at 832.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 6.85% or 66.15 points to 1032.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 5.73% or 50.05 points to trade at 822.70 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 5.37% or 40.95 points to end at 722.25 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 5.01% or 42.85 points to 812.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 8.84% to 4208.60, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 7.71% to settle at 835.05 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 6.99% to close at 1033.00.

The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 5.73% to 822.20 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 5.36% to settle at 809.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 3.77% to 1093.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 876 to 727 and 91 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1431 fell and 1181 advanced, while 174 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.28% to 21.5775.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.87% or 16.10 to $1870.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.41% or 0.57 to hit $40.86 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.69 to trade at $43.09 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.26% to 74.222, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 87.5235.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 92.892.
