India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.71%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.71%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.68% or 28.50 points to trade at 637.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 2.88% or 20.75 points to end at 742.35 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 2.75% or 14.20 points to 530.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 1.35% or 16.00 points to trade at 1172.00 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 1.11% or 78.85 points to end at 7050.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was down 0.91% or 5.45 points to 594.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.89% to 638.70, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.45% to settle at 450.90 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.30% to close at 372.00.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.41% to 1172.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.02% to settle at 7051.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.85% to 181.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 969 to 628 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1541 rose and 1120 declined, while 152 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.80% to 20.5975.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.63% or 12.45 to $1976.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.85% or 0.69 to hit $37.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 0.64 to trade at $40.25 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.35% to 73.629, while EUR/INR rose 0.55% to 87.5515.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.862.
