India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.50%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.50% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.58%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 6.04% or 10.65 points to trade at 187.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 4.76% or 62.95 points to end at 1386.55 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.57% or 10.55 points to 306.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 3.74% or 101.70 points to trade at 2616.55 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 0.78% or 36.85 points to end at 4708.00 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was down 0.53% or 0.55 points to 104.10.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 6.22% to 187.05, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 4.82% to settle at 1387.05 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 2.82% to close at 1097.05.

The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.67% to 4712.45 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.56% to settle at 1035.30 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.49% to 757.15 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1398 to 296 and 35 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2264 rose and 788 declined, while 109 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.76% or 62.95 to 1386.55. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.82% or 63.75 to 1387.05. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 2.82% or 30.10 to 1097.05.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.67% to 12.3725.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1753.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.12% or 0.08 to hit $69.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $71.42 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.01% to 74.242, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 87.1565.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 92.922.
