India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.44%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.40%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 10.04% or 41.80 points to trade at 458.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 6.86% or 93.60 points to end at 1458.60 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 3.90% or 545.45 points to 14516.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which fell 2.39% or 171.55 points to trade at 6993.50 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.15% or 3.68 points to end at 167.40 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was down 1.63% or 62.25 points to 3756.25.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 6.87% to 1459.00, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 4.48% to settle at 14590.45 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 3.83% to close at 441.75.

The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.21% to 6991.90 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.13% to settle at 167.40 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.51% to 3762.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1032 to 656 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1837 rose and 1203 declined, while 135 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) rose to all time highs; up 3.90% or 545.45 to 14516.00. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) rose to all time highs; up 6.87% or 93.85 to 1459.00. Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.48% or 625.20 to 14590.45. Shares in State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.83% or 16.30 to 441.75.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.46% to 12.9450.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.22% or 22.00 to $1821.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.30% or 0.22 to hit $72.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.21 to trade at $74.08 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.28% to 74.279, while EUR/INR fell 0.00% to 88.2100.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 92.037.
