Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.27% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 0.22%.

The best performers of the session on the were Vedanta Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.87% or 4.60 points to trade at 165.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:) added 2.30% or 69.90 points to end at 3105.15 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) was up 2.06% or 48.75 points to 2411.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 8.31% or 3.50 points to trade at 38.55 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.77% or 58.00 points to end at 1481.65 and UPL Ltd (NS:) was down 1.14% or 6.75 points to 583.55.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.15% to 2417.00, ITC Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.74% to settle at 243.30 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.48% to close at 123.55.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.85% to 1481.10 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.93% to settle at 1529.05 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.84% to 1676.95 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 913 to 623 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1401 rose and 1004 declined, while 129 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.54% to 13.9125.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.37% or 5.75 to $1544.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.52% or 0.30 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.44 to trade at $64.64 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.25% to 70.875, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 78.8745.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.150.
