India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.24%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.21%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.79% or 53.65 points to trade at 1,174.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 3.08% or 21.30 points to end at 712.05 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was up 2.86% or 56.75 points to 2,039.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 2.25% or 138.00 points to trade at 5,996.85 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 1.63% or 6.75 points to end at 407.75 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 1.08% or 11.75 points to 1,078.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.75% to 1,174.40, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.61% to settle at 1,290.20 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.37% to close at 2,169.95.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.30% to 5,995.15 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 1.14% to settle at 1,078.15 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.00% to 1,492.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1056 to 841 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1876 rose and 1478 declined, while 118 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.49% to 12.45.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 2.15 to $1,817.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $83.35 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.03, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 86.47.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 105.67.
