India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.24%

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 3.30% or 56.05 points to trade at 1,754.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.97% or 170.90 points to end at 5,932.20 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.60% or 11.10 points to 437.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 1.74% or 19.35 points to trade at 1,091.85 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 1.50% or 2.30 points to end at 150.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was down 1.09% or 9.60 points to 875.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.95% to 5,935.50, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.90% to settle at 1,303.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.80% to close at 1,084.70.

The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.73% to 1,091.75 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.10% to settle at 874.65 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.04% to 851.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1323 to 629 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2311 rose and 1091 declined, while 108 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.95% to 11.80 a new 3-years low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $2,035.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.41% or 0.33 to hit $80.28 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.28 to trade at $84.71 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.03% to 81.92, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 89.32.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 101.63.
