Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 1.87%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.87% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.25%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 6.10% or 0.539 points to trade at 9.369 at the close. Meanwhile, Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) added 5.60% or 10.98 points to end at 207.18 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 4.87% or 3.130 points to 67.380 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 4.12% or 2.46 points to trade at 57.18 at the close. Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) declined 3.45% or 1.490 points to end at 41.760 and Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) was down 3.19% or 4.60 points to 139.50.

The top performers on the MDAX were K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which rose 8.14% to 9.711, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was up 6.11% to settle at 8.775 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which gained 5.75% to close at 5.668.

The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 4.24% to 24.820 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which lost 3.55% to settle at 122.800 and TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 3.59% to 43.24 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 5.16% to 24.040, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was up 3.25% to settle at 36.840 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.96% to close at 21.890.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 3.59% to 43.24 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.23% to settle at 14.418 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 3.28% to 28.050 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 442 to 227 and 28 ended unchanged.

Shares in BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.87% or 3.130 to 67.380. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) rose to 3-years highs; rising 5.16% or 1.180 to 24.040.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 13.08% to 23.60.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.48% or 48.50 to $1905.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.08% or 0.54 to hit $50.47 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.36% or 0.73 to trade at $54.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.2275, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.9048.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 89.727.
