Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 1.12%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.12%, while the MDAX index added 0.55%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.15%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 5.40% or 12.80 points to trade at 249.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) added 3.90% or 11.70 points to end at 311.50 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was up 3.63% or 0.67 points to 18.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA), which fell 1.75% or 0.76 points to trade at 42.66 at the close. Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) declined 1.66% or 1.90 points to end at 112.70 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 1.55% or 0.53 points to 33.60.

The top performers on the MDAX were Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which rose 4.45% to 61.00, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was up 4.30% to settle at 32.48 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which gained 2.69% to close at 83.90.

The worst performers were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 4.11% to 42.94 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 2.75% to settle at 134.35 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 1.95% to 1.91 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which rose 1.92% to 46.80, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.88% to settle at 17.65 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which gained 1.86% to close at 21.88.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.85% to 71.55 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 2.75% to settle at 134.35 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 2.03% to 16.90 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 384 to 298 and 75 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.86% or 0.40 to 21.88.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.64% to 26.89.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.58% or 11.45 to $1,984.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $66.95 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $72.98 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 102.98.
