Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.74%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.74%, while the MDAX index added 1.42%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.42%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 5.14% or 1.32 points to trade at 27.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) added 3.49% or 2.30 points to end at 68.24 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was up 3.49% or 0.27 points to 8.07 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which fell 5.11% or 8.90 points to trade at 165.35 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) declined 3.29% or 1.53 points to end at 45.01 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was down 2.96% or 11.30 points to 370.90.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 7.99% to 39.06, K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was up 4.60% to settle at 20.35 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 4.05% to close at 45.70.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 5.03% to 24.00 in late trade, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which lost 1.77% to settle at 36.68 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.14% to 130.40 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 4.59% to 43.72, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was up 4.38% to settle at 102.40 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 4.33% to close at 49.68.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 5.03% to 24.00 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 2.96% to settle at 370.90 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 1.77% to 36.68 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 487 to 205 and 75 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.29% or 1.53 to 45.01.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.51% to 31.59.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.41% or 7.05 to $1,710.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.66% or 4.41 to hit $98.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 4.72% or 4.77 to trade at $105.93 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.87% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.83% at 107.01.
