Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.13%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13%, while the MDAX index fell 0.26%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.73%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which rose 2.74% or 2.010 points to trade at 75.430 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 2.73% or 2.57 points to end at 96.81 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) was up 2.47% or 1.62 points to 67.24 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p), which fell 5.84% or 29.700 points to trade at 479.100 at the close. Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) declined 3.87% or 1.690 points to end at 41.960 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was down 3.18% or 6.45 points to 196.55.

The top performers on the MDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 5.75% to 58.520, K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was up 3.98% to settle at 17.650 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 3.93% to close at 52.940.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 6.09% to 152.750 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 5.36% to settle at 85.480 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.46% to 36.820 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 5.75% to 58.520, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 2.75% to settle at 20.010 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 2.29% to close at 14.320.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 8.06% to 33.100 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 6.09% to settle at 152.750 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 5.84% to 479.100 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 361 to 334 and 82 ended unchanged.

Shares in K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.98% or 0.675 to 17.650. Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.06% or 2.900 to 33.100.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.15% to 17.32.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.38% or 6.95 to $1820.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.29% or 0.24 to hit $82.40 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $84.63 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1464, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8358.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.770.
