At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.23%, while the MDAX index gained 1.26%, and the TecDAX index added 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 7.25% or 1.750 points to trade at 25.880 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 2.68% or 2.49 points to end at 95.38 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 2.59% or 0.830 points to 32.875 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which fell 12.59% or 6.72 points to trade at 46.65 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.78% or 3.83 points to end at 133.81 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 1.95% or 1.020 points to 51.280.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (DE:RAAG) which rose 5.23% to 704.00, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.93% to settle at 10.800 and Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which gained 4.38% to close at 64.84.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.74% to 103.400 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which lost 4.68% to settle at 4.110 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 3.69% to 64.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which rose 7.25% to 25.880, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.93% to settle at 10.800 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 3.98% to close at 11.500.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.74% to 103.400 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 2.77% to settle at 172.30 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 2.51% to 2.134 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 344 to 335 and 67 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.65% to 27.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.14% or 21.55 to $1917.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 4.05% or 1.63 to hit $38.59 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.36% or 1.42 to trade at $40.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1744, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.9107.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.782.
