Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.13%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.13%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.88%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 2.01% or 4.30 points to trade at 218.40 at the close. Meanwhile, SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 1.66% or 1.750 points to end at 107.010 and Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) was up 1.09% or 0.470 points to 43.720 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 2.53% or 0.233 points to trade at 8.985 at the close. Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) declined 2.51% or 3.25 points to end at 126.00 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) was down 1.59% or 1.90 points to 117.39.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which rose 6.95% to 11.123, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was up 4.38% to settle at 61.95 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 3.51% to close at 91.50.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 12.17% to 42.345 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 2.96% to settle at 7.616 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.63% to 14.143 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which rose 2.70% to 25.120, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.56% to settle at 345.000 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which gained 2.04% to close at 179.900.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 12.17% to 42.345 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 3.47% to settle at 29.200 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.63% to 14.143 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 351 to 338 and 35 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.51% or 3.10 to 91.50.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.64% to 24.80.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.26% or 4.85 to $1885.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.28% or 0.61 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.16% or 0.59 to trade at $51.49 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.2253, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.9071.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 89.898.
