Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.12%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.12%, while the MDAX index fell 0.64%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 4.05% or 2.10 points to trade at 53.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) added 2.64% or 0.85 points to end at 33.02 and Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) was up 1.78% or 2.85 points to 162.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 3.01% or 1.21 points to trade at 38.99 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) declined 2.83% or 0.51 points to end at 17.66 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was down 2.79% or 0.79 points to 27.51.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 2.51% to 47.85, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 2.49% to settle at 21.00 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 1.59% to close at 128.00.

The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (ETR:PSMGn) which was down 4.33% to 8.76 in late trade, Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which lost 3.49% to settle at 58.70 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 3.34% to 33.54 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 2.49% to 21.00, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 2.07% to settle at 14.82 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 1.59% to close at 128.00.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 3.31% to 25.99 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 2.62% to settle at 28.23 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 2.09% to 35.10 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 450 to 239 and 73 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.89% to 18.82.

Gold Futures for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1,877.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.91% or 0.68 to hit $75.31 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.57 to trade at $80.22 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 103.06.
