Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 2.32%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.32%, while the MDAX index lost 3.61%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.19%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which rose 3.57% or 0.88 points to trade at 25.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) added 0.55% or 0.26 points to end at 47.12 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 0.49% or 0.09 points to 18.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which fell 6.83% or 2.15 points to trade at 29.33 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 6.05% or 1.61 points to end at 25.00 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 5.21% or 8.62 points to 156.98.

The top performers on the MDAX were Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which rose 1.62% to 22.54, Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which was up 0.53% to settle at 57.20 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which lost 0.80% to close at 34.84.

The worst performers were Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which was down 8.11% to 48.63 in late trade, Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which lost 7.72% to settle at 5.97 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 7.12% to 47.07 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which rose 0.55% to 47.12, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was up 0.49% to settle at 18.99 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 0.44% to close at 22.60.

The worst performers were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 6.01% to 42.04 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 5.91% to settle at 21.64 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 5.87% to 19.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 541 to 144 and 77 ended unchanged.

Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.83% or 2.15 to 29.33. Shares in Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) fell to all time lows; down 8.11% or 4.29 to 48.63.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 12.91% to 29.57 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.88% or 15.45 to $1,747.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.26% or 1.14 to hit $89.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 1.19 to trade at $95.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.03% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.47% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.80% at 108.96.
