Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 2.02%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.02%, while the MDAX index declined 2.01%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.88%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 5.54% or 2.27 points to trade at 43.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) added 0.75% or 0.750 points to end at 101.250 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.21% or 0.120 points to 57.820 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 3.49% or 0.502 points to trade at 13.896 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 3.37% or 9.15 points to end at 262.60 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was down 3.26% or 2.240 points to 66.450.

The top performers on the MDAX were Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which rose 1.99% to 19.44, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 1.71% to settle at 15.17 and Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) which gained 0.69% to close at 36.250.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 7.07% to 8.366 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which lost 4.75% to settle at 5.290 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 4.56% to 74.300 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 1.71% to 15.17, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was up 0.02% to settle at 47.080 and Vantage Towers AG (DE:VTWRn) which lost 0.17% to close at 29.19.

The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 4.64% to 106.800 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 4.59% to settle at 31.200 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 4.37% to 88.940 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 627 to 92 and 52 ended unchanged.

Shares in Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.56% or 3.550 to 74.300. Shares in Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.64% or 5.200 to 106.800. Shares in Varta AG (DE:VAR1) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.37% or 4.060 to 88.940.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 28.96% to 29.75.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.43% or 26.40 to $1868.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.04% or 0.97 to hit $94.07 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.63 to trade at $95.07 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1313, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8356.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 96.235.
