At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.98% to hit a new 52-week low, while the MDAX index declined 1.79%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (DE:ENR1n), which rose 3.53% or 0.68 points to trade at 19.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) added 1.09% or 0.44 points to end at 40.90 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 0.52% or 0.50 points to 97.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which fell 5.40% or 10.10 points to trade at 176.90 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 5.37% or 7.76 points to end at 136.74 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (DE:PSHG_p) was down 5.27% or 3.86 points to 69.44.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 4.44% to 155.30, K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was up 3.99% to settle at 23.72 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 2.43% to close at 76.60.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 10.15% to 43.90 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 10.14% to settle at 53.00 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 7.70% to 46.48 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 17.63% to 35.50, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 8.05% to settle at 16.51 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 2.43% to close at 76.60.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 6.17% to 87.00 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which lost 6.04% to settle at 53.65 and TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 5.80% to 11.78 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 542 to 188 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.40% or 10.10 to 176.90. Shares in Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.37% or 7.76 to 136.74. Shares in Porsche Automobil Holding SE (DE:PSHG_p) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.27% or 3.86 to 69.44. Shares in K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.99% or 0.91 to 23.72. Shares in Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.70% or 3.88 to 46.48. Shares in Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.17% or 5.72 to 87.00. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.04% or 3.45 to 53.65.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.33% to 43.26.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.24% or 24.30 to $1,990.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 4.38% or 5.07 to hit $120.75 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 5.81% or 6.86 to trade at $124.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 99.06.
