At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.76% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index lost 2.74%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which rose 2.53% or 1.14 points to trade at 46.16 at the close. Meanwhile, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) added 2.10% or 0.62 points to end at 30.20 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 2.07% or 0.56 points to 27.56 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 12.19% or 1.18 points to trade at 8.51 at the close. Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) declined 6.15% or 3.84 points to end at 58.58 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was down 4.86% or 3.44 points to 67.40.
The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 8.29% to 38.14, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 1.70% to settle at 110.45 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which gained 1.46% to close at 58.30.
The worst performers were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was down 11.79% to 7.35 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which lost 7.93% to settle at 5.95 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was down 7.85% to 67.82 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 1.91% to 315.10, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 1.70% to settle at 110.45 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which gained 1.60% to close at 22.84.
The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 19.40% to 40.50 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 3.50% to settle at 40.86 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 3.39% to 71.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 482 to 202 and 78 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 12.19% or 1.18 to 8.51. Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.93% or 0.51 to 5.95. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 19.40% or 9.75 to 40.50. Shares in Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.39% or 2.50 to 71.25.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.57% to 28.72.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.43% or 7.85 to $1,830.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.62% or 1.72 to hit $104.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 1.53 to trade at $110.21 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 104.22.
