Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.54%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.54% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.81%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.82%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p), which rose 1.72% or 1.04 points to trade at 61.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) added 1.31% or 0.70 points to end at 54.00 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was up 1.19% or 0.47 points to 40.08 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 5.73% or 0.63 points to trade at 10.39 at the close. Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) declined 4.50% or 3.36 points to end at 71.36 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) was down 4.17% or 1.36 points to 31.25.

The top performers on the MDAX were Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which rose 1.61% to 25.85, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.58% to settle at 30.79 and Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which gained 1.17% to close at 58.94.

The worst performers were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was down 6.79% to 6.34 in late trade, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which lost 6.73% to settle at 103.30 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.84% to 24.40 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (ETR:SANT1) which rose 1.66% to 16.53, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 1.61% to settle at 25.85 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 1.58% to close at 30.79.

The worst performers were Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 5.35% to 28.68 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 4.84% to settle at 24.40 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 4.15% to 21.92 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 551 to 147 and 69 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.17% or 1.36 to 31.25.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.36% to 30.30.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.99% or 38.50 to $1,895.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 4.91% or 5.01 to hit $97.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 4.98% or 5.29 to trade at $100.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 101.74.
